May 2024 Update

Progress, progress, progress!

I hit the ground running last month with my first author event and haven’t stopped since then. Being one of the writers for the first Puerto Rican Authors from Connecticut event was an unforgettable experience. It was an honor to join ten of my fellow PR authors on that panel; I could have stayed there all day. Not only was I able to connect with those like me, it was a much-needed boost of inspiration.

Phoenix’s Call is still very much in the works. I’m currently halfway through drafting Chapter 28 and the manuscript officially hit 100k words! I love how the story is unfolding and even though there is still a ways to go, I’m hoping to finish drafting the rest of the chapters by the end of the year.

Battle Cry has also had amazing progress. An astounding 12 out of 18 actors have completed their lines for the entire season. I’ve been able to switch my director hat for an actor one as I’ve started recording my own lines. It’s been interesting diving into the character from an acting rather than a writing perspective, especially after directing my scene partners. You have to stop yourself from being meta about the situation, keeping in mind that what your character knows versus what you know are two different things. Production is tentatively scheduled to wrap sometime in June. Then, the real work begins: editing.

In addition to writing and performing, I’ll be providing author coaching services for Deep Earth Press’s “Saving Our Stories” workshop in June!

“Saving Our Stories” is an online and in-person interactive workshop designed to help you save your story, whatever that may be! Taught by Psychic Medium & Author Josh Simonds, the workshop will include online and in-person instruction, with tips, techniques, and guidelines that’ll help you get that story out of your heart and onto the page.
